Your motivation will always be challenged as an entrepreneur.
Why? Because being an entrepreneur means being exposed to stress, challenges, and roadblocks.
Especially if you’re just starting, it’s common to experience long nights of work and failures. And sometimes, the entrepreneurial journey can be lonely too.
So, in a way, you lose the desire to do things. But it doesn’t have to be like that.
You can still get motivated when you feel like you’re stuck.
I’m in no way scaring or discouraging you from becoming an entrepreneur. I’m sharing the realities that entrepreneurs face and ways to stay motivated.
Below are five ways you can beat your lack of motivation, keep you on track, and grow as an entrepreneur.

5 Ways To Stay Motivated as an Entrepreneur
Revisit Your Goals and Visions
If there’s something that you should review and revisit regularly, it’s your mission and vision. You can take control again by remembering WHY you started your business. Go back to your WHY.
It’s good to reassess your situation and ask yourself: What were your plans before the roadblock happened? What have you achieved so far?
Sometimes, we lose our motivation when everything suddenly becomes so messy. And the entrepreneurial journey does get messy, a lot.
You can counter this by focusing again on where you’re headed.
Furthermore, if it looks like you’re not yet progressing as planned, you can try to create different strategies to achieve your goals.
What’s important is that you continue to take action despite the fear. Remember, it’s important to be flexible with your path and strategies to reach your goal.
Did you know? Taking little action towards your goals triggers motivation, no matter how small.
Identify What Motivates You
To get motivated, you have to know what keeps you upbeat and enthusiastic.
There are four motivation styles: goal-oriented, social-oriented, learning-oriented, and thrill-oriented.
- Goal Oriented
- Goal-oriented means you are motivated to see your results. You find pleasure in seeing your work done.
- Create lists of tasks you want to accomplish for the day/week/month.
- Social Oriented
- This means that you are motivated when you work with other people. You want to be interactive and cultivate relationships while you work.
- Connect and collaborate with people in the same industry.
- Hang out with people who inspire you.
- Learning-Oriented
- Learning-oriented people are driven by learning along their work journey. You are motivated when you get more knowledge about your expertise.
- Listen to experts in your niche or industry.
- Watch a short video tutorial on how to get to your goals.
Know which of these motivation styles can lift you up the most and include them in your daily routine as an entrepreneur.
Take Time To Recharge
As entrepreneurs, we love the hustle and grind. We tend to go all-in and are always looking towards the next goal. While it’s good to keep ourselves inspired and motivated to reach our goals, let’s not forget to take a step back to re-charge.
Additionally, taking a quick break from your work can spike up motivation as well. A quick rest can release stress and fatigue from working too much.
During this time, we recommend meditating, exercising, or practicing yoga when you experience challenges can help you bring more focus and clarity to yourself.
As an entrepreneur, it’s important that you take time for meditation, rest, and to recharge at least once a day.
“Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what holds you back, and choose the path that leads to wisdom.”
― Buddha
Build a Healthy Routine
Do you have a routine that’s healthy for both your personal and professional life?
Having a routine can help you be more productive. More importantly, having a healthy routine will help you build consistency in your business as an entrepreneur.
If you’re experiencing a lack of motivation, creating a healthy routine will help you get back on track. Here are our recommendations to get started creating a healthy routine:
- Practice a morning routine (that doesn’t include checking your phone or email first thing in the morning).
- Create a night time routine to promote better sleep.
- Practice daily affirmations.
- Make time to meditate and recharge.
- Include exercise and movement in your day (core workout, go for a walk, or yoga).
Speaking of a healthy routine, another way to make sure you’re consistent with your workout and yoga routine is to have a good workout wardrobe. Check out our shop for trendy workout clothes and equipment.

Look Outside Yourself
While most gurus would recommend looking inward for motivation, it’s also a good idea to look for inspiration outside of yourself.
Turn your attention outside to see the bigger picture – your customers, clients, and the people that depend on you.
Sometimes we get caught up in our own emotions that we forget that other people are also dependent on our business – the clients we serve, the employees in our business, our family, and our loved ones.
When you lose track of your source of motivation, just go back to this bigger picture.
Focus on how you can help your clients better. Look at the impact you have on your clients, your friends, and your loved ones.
In Conclusion
Your hardships as an entrepreneur are valid. It may take some time and effort to motivate yourself to move forward again, but that’s all part of the journey.
What’s important is to take small, messy actions.
Find ways to lift yourself up. Your goals and dreams are waiting for you on the other side.
